Rocking, Rolling, Boating

Mady is getting so big!! We took her to get weighed and measured last week and she was 12 lbs. 12 oz and 24.5 inches long! She's also started rolling over. She's got back to tummy down pat, but is still struggling with tummy to back. She hates tummy time, remember? So she gets turned over and then is mad that she's on her tummy!

She also loves standing! Her legs are so strong and she loves to stand on our laps. Maybe she'll just bypass crawling?

Playing in her exersaucer. She's actually watching the television. She's so drawn it! We're going to have to watch that as she gets older!

We've also been able to go boating a few times, which makes Eric very excited! Mady has done great with it, and really seems to like riding along.

We got a smile!! Grandpa's holding her on the boat.

Busy Week

I don't know where the time goes sometimes! We've had a pretty busy week and a half around here since I last posted.

I went back to work at the University of Iowa on May 17 and 18. I worked those two overnight shifts in a row so I stayed in Iowa City and Eric kept Madelyn. They did great, but it was so hard for me to be gone that long! As much as I have loved that job, I am thankful that I've found something part-time in Newton.

These pictures are of Mady at 3 months old! Sorry the top one is blurry...again we're always fighting to get her to smile at the camera!

Picture Time, Bath Time, Tulip Time, and Tummy Time

The last week has flown by! It was my last week at home with Madelyn before going back to work and we had lots of fun!

Aunt Amanda came to visit on Tuesday, so we decided we'd try to take some cute pictures! I'm not sure how great they are, but I do think they fit the bill of cute!

Always has her hands in her mouth!

Looking EXACTLY like her daddy in this picture! I've seen a picture of him at a similar age, and it's crazy how much she looks like him in this picture.

Looking a little scared of us

Bath Time. We've decided we need to video tape this process at some time, simply because she makes the funniest noises when we're giving her a bath.

Hanging out with her friend Rebecca.

Doesn't she looked a little ticked at us?! This was after the Tulip Time parade in Pella, and it was a bit chilly that day. I don't think she's pleased that we made her wear a hat, hood, and mittens.

With Mommy in front of the tulips.

Tummy time is kind of a fight at our house. She either ends up like this.....
which doesn't do her much good for strengthening her neck and arms.

Or she ends up like this....
which really isn't pleasant either!

More Madelyn Pics

So I really need to learn to rotate pictures in here! Here are some recent ones of Mady!

I was trying to catch her smiling, but every time she sees the light from the camera, she quits smiling!

This past weekend we went to my parent's house and had a "Meet Madelyn" party for several of our relatives. It was a lot of fun!

Staring at Dad

Smiling at Dad. I caught the very end of it before she quit because of the flash.

Again I was trying to catch her smiling, but she ends up looking unhappy! Silly girl, she really is pretty happy most of the time. We're really thankful for her content, happy disposition.

Michigan Visitors

The last couple of weeks have flown by here! A couple weekends ago, Eric's brother, Andy, and his girlfriend, Sarah, came to visit from Michigan. It was great to see them and so fun to have them meet Madelyn. She's a pretty popular little lady!

Madelyn has found her thumb on occasion. She's often chewing on her fist, but once in a while gets just her thumb!

Thanks for coming to visit!

Two months!!

Madelyn is two months old already! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone and how much she has changed already! She is becoming very social, smiling at us quite a bit and extending her vocabulary of cooing and grunting! She very funny to listen to! She's also letting us sleep more, which is fantastic! She's always been a pretty good sleeper, but the last several nights she's slept from about 11:00 to 5:00 or 5:30. Very nice!

She had her two month check-up this week and she is weighing in at 11 lbs. 3 oz and 23 inches long. She's right at the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. Eric and I are guessing that her height percentile is either going to decrease drastically as she gets older since we're both pretty short, or she's taking after her Grandpa Harms!

Here's our little cutie giving us a smile! I couldn't get her to look at the camera, but it's a keeper anyway!

Changes, Changes

We are officially moved in! Our house is still a disaster, but slowly we are getting unpacked and settled. We're so thankful for our family and friends that helped us so much! We could not have done it without them!

Now that we've moved, we've officially have most of the major life changes we could have within the last 7 weeks. We had a baby, moved, Eric is transitioning to a new area for his job, and I will be looking for a new job eventually! It's been a bit overwhelming at times, but we are extremely blessed and know that the Lord is leading us, and we're just trying to follow!

We are praying to follow the plans the Lord has for us, to raise Madelyn as He would have us raise her, and to find community here to reach out to as well as to fellowship with. I have always been so blessed with the people that have surrounded me in the different stages in my life, from high school, to college, and then as we transitioned together to married life in Iowa City. We hope to continue that now as we transition again.

Here are a few pictures from this weekend to share.
